When you donate your unwanted goods to Emmaus Gloucestershire you help to support a community of 20 Companions to join together in meaningful work, generating the income needed to run the Community, and with any surplus passed on to those less fortunate through acts of solidarity.

You will also be helping to reduce the huge quantity of waste going into landfill and giving a second life to things that would otherwise be wasted. Help us to reach our target of diverting 250 Tonnes of household goods this year from landfill to a re-use future.

In a nut shell we welcome donations of good quality items that are “fit for purpose” and ready for sale such as:

• Clothes
• Books
• China
• Glassware
• Curtains
• Good Quality Furniture
• Household Linen
• Records, CDs & DVDs
• Soft Furnishings (Beds, mattresses, sofas etc with a valid 1988 Fire Safety Label)
• Good quality Toys (with a valid CE Safety Mark)
• Tools
• White goods
• Electrical Equipment, Hifi’s & DVD players with remote controls
• Televisions with 2 scart sockets and remote control
• Garden tools
• Plants
• Fabric

Unfortunately there are items that we cannot accept, for a variety of reasons. Please see below for details...

Electric fires with open bars (Do not meet legal requirements).
Gas appliances, including Calor (We are not Corgi registered)
Foam backed carpet (Falls apart)
Pianos (Health & Safety issue. Too heavy for our van crews to move safely)
Faulty electrical items
Electric blankets (Cannot test and guarantee they are safe to use)
Upholstered furniture (anything with foam) without correct label. Including: headboards, sofas, chairs, footstools, beanbags, and scatter cushions (We must meet all legal and Trading standards requirements – items must comply with the 1988 or 1993 furniture regulations)
Flat packed furniture (Bits get separated or broken, and items become un-saleable)
Safety equipment (crash helmets, ski boots, etc), Skateboards and roller skates, Inflatable items such as dinghy, mattresses, Baby car seats / walkers, Prams, buggies, cots, highchairs etc (We cannot test and guarantee the integrity of these items)
Computers, fax machines, printers etc (No demand for these items)
TV sets without a remote control (Cannot re-tune and test them)
Soft toys and games that do not have CE labels (Items without CE label do not meet legal requirements)
Large wall units (Too large for most properties, no demand)
Gas bottles, paint, paraffin, petrol, aerosols or other flammable substance (Health and Safety)
